Meeting Topics:
1. Schools in the Area:
With Waikapu centrally located and continuously expanding, we will discuss with Mrs. Dimino, the Dept of Education’s Complex Area Superintendent, concerning the growth of Central Maui and its impacts to the existing schools. Part of this discussion is to gain a better insight and understanding of what the DOE is planning for existing schools and for the proposed build out of Central Maui. Some of the concerns are the overcrowding of schools, parking, Elementary to Intermediate school ratio, and overall accommodation for the total build out of Central Maui.
2. Safety Concerns in the Waikapu Area:
Discussion with the Mayor’s office, Deputy Police Chief Rickard, and Asst Police Chief Jakubczak regarding crime and safety concerns in the Waikapu area. Even though we have met with MPD’s Community Relations in the past and followed their recommendations, we will discuss reoccurring, ongoing issues and the actions needed to improve our community’s safety.
3. WCA Board Elections:
The Waikapu Community Association is looking for new members to join the Board. Please feel free to contact me for more information or volunteer at the meeting. Those who have paid their membership dues can vote. Please support the WCA by mailing your dues.
